There will be 5 open access ‘Introduction to Slings’ workshops throughout the day – no booking required!
In these workshops, qualified sling educators will take you through the basics of sling safety and the main types of sling, and a short demonstration of each type. After the workshop there will be the chance to ask the facilitator any questions you may have.
These workshops run to a timetable, but the door will be open so as long as there are chairs available in the room, you can pop in and out as you wish (but obviously turn up at the beginning of the session if you want to see the full presentation!). Read on for the timetable and information about the facilitators.
Jodie is mum to Jenni, who she has carried since she was a month old. The experience was very special for them both, especially as she struggles with PND and is a single mum, Jodie now runs Jenni Bean Consultancies and Library, and is a sling consultant trained by Slingababy and member of British Association of Babywearing Instructors (BABI).
Jodie hopes to help parents enjoy their own babywearing experiences and build positive and confident memories to last a lifetime.
Becky of Sling Dreams started babywearing her in-arms baby in 2010, and had no idea the importance and significance it would have had on her life. 3 children and nearly 6 years on, her love for holding her babies continues. So does enabling others to feel the same magic and freedom it gives parents and carers, so she trained to become a babywearing educator which fitted in perfectly with her gentle parenting workshops.
It makes her so happy to see the relief and love in a parent’s eyes when they put their baby in a sling comfortably and confidently for the first time; to see that bond and sense of freedom.
Amy started carrying her eldest son soon after his birth & trained with Slingababy in early 2014, just before his first first birthday. She then set up The Carrying Works Sling Library & Carrying Consultancy to enable her to support local families on their carrying journey after being inspired by the families of Sheffield Slings & Rosie of the Sheffield Sling Surgery.
Helping others to discover the sense of freedom and the wonderful community her own family discovered is just one of the reasons Amy set up the library. Now a mum of two boys (3yrs 8mth & 8mths), carrying is a vital part of family life with both boys being carried on a regular basis!
Paula’s journey into carrying started a bit by chance over 2 years ago with the birth of her first daughter, lil Miss Roo. Since then, slings have been an amazing tool in her family. Lil Miss Roo made Paula discover the incredible power of positive touch and the practicality of slings. She decided she wanted to let families know about it, to help families trust themselves and their babies and help new parents find a good family balance.
Paula trained as a babywearing consultant in March 2015 with School of Babywearing and with Slingababy in October 2015. She also exhibiting at the show with her company Eco’roos, distributor of EmeiBaby carriers.
