This year we have 12 fantastic workshops facilitated by experienced sling consultants. There’s something for everyone including complete beginners. Workshop places will cost £10 and some will be prebookable; you will be able to buy tickets for the others on the day, along with any unsold tickets from the prebookable workshops.

How to get your baby on your back [prebookable]
Azizah Attard, Sling Clinic and Library; North London and Bebe Sachi UK

Is your little one getting curious? Twisting and turning in their carrier to look all around? Get them on your back and explore the world together!

This workshop is designed to demonstrate safe ways of getting a little one onto your back in a variety of soft structured carriers as well as traditional asian carriers. Suitable for babies that can hold their heads unsupported or from around 20 weeks.

Azizah Attard is a mum of two and a babywearing consultant with Slingababy, Die Trageschule and the School of Babywearing UK. She trains Peer supporters with Born to Carry and owns a sling library in North London. She is passionate about safe carrying and the positive effects it can have on both parent/carer and baby.

Azizah is also the UK Partner to Bebe Sachi – a Social Enterprise dedicated to the preservation of the traditional hand loom and hand weaving legacy of Bangladesh. They produce hand woven wraps, meh dais and accessories.

Rock your ring sling [prebookable]
Dr Rosie Knowles, Carrying Matters

Ring slings are a superb way to carry children of all ages, from birth to toddlerhood and beyond. Becoming confident in your skills and positioning will help you make the most of this very versatile tool! Rose will show you how to do a simple front carry with a ring sling, taking you through the process step by step, and how to troubleshoot common issues.

Integra versatility [tickets available on the day]

Explore the ease and versatility of the multi award winning Integra carrier.

Aiming to give a complete understanding of the Integra and its use for all ages of infant – from newborn upwards – and getting optimum comfort and positioning across all carrying positions.

Led by one of Integra’s long-serving professional baby wearing consultants, the workshop will give parents and carers all those need-to-know handy hints, myth-busting thoughts and insider knowledge!

Breastfeeding in a sling [prebookable]
Lorette Michallon, Slingababy

In this practical workshop you will learn how combining these two skills can be beneficial. You will be shown how we can safely bring a baby to the breast. You will be given tips to use slings to help establish feeding. This workshop is suitable for parents and expectant parents, health professionals and carrying professionals.

Lorette Michallon runs the Slingababy carrying school and has trained over 500 consultants and peer supporters over the last 5 years. She is a mother of two with a deep passion for learning, teaching, education, compassion and self-improvement. Being French gives her access to different platforms which gives her a unique approach. She prides herself in delivering quality training.

Back carries with a ring sling [prebookable]

Suitable from 6 months plus (for the purposes of this simple workshop)

Did you know that you can use a ring sling for a quick back carry? This will make your ring sling even more useful. Rosie will show you how to do this, please ensure that you are confident with a front carry in a ring sling already

Using slings with your newborn [tickets available on the day]
Sarah Persin, Sling Connection

In this session, Sarah will introduce how carrying your baby in a sling can help you both manage the fourth trimester period.  We will discuss safety and positioning in a sling before going on to explore a few suitable sling options for a newborn baby.  If we have time you will also have the opportunity for a hands on practise with a sling (using a demo doll or your own baby) and get in-person tips and answers to any questions you may have.  Slings and demo dolls will be provided.

Sarah Persin has carried her own three children using slings over the past six years and is passionate about sharing the benefits with other families.  She trained as a babywearing peer supporter in 2016 and finally as a babywearing consultant with Slingababy in 2017.  Sarah runs Sling Connection consultancy, offering private consultations and workshops, and also runs Guildford Sling Library.  Whether you’re new to slings, need to tweak your own or take it to the next level Sarah would love to support you to carry your child safely and with confidence.

She owns Greenwich Slings and offers private home visits as well as workshops. She also co-owns South East London Slingers – a sling rental service which provides information and low cost hire of slings to local families.

Ann Charles, Birth Geek

Have you enjoyed using a stretchy wrap or Close Caboo-style sling for your newborn but are now wondering what your options are now they are a bit older (and heavier)?

Sling consultant Ann Charles will introduce you to a range of slings that can take you from 4+ months to toddlerhood and beyond.

If you are wondering about wovens, muddled by meh dais and bemused by buckles, this is the workshop for you! The workshop will contain demos of all the major sling types as well as an overview of their pros and cons. Sling playtime at the end if time allows. Demo dollls and slings are provided. All welcome!

Ann Charles works in radio by day, but is a Birth Geek, birth educator and sling enthusiast the rest of the time.

She is a Babywearing Consultant (trained with the School of Babywearing) and regular helper at Norwich Sling Library.

Ann’s favourite thing about working with slings is seeing parents’ faces light up when they find ‘the one’ and watching their baby immediately drop off to sleep!

Jodie from Sycha Slings takes a look at what makes a wrap ideal for teaching and enabling all families to discover a love of woven fabrics when carrying their children

Jodie Brown is mum of two, her daughter is 4 and her son is 8 months. She has trained with Slingababy, JPMBB and Sophie Messager as both a sling consultant and in mindful rebozo. Jodie has been with the Sycha Slings team since 2017 supporting events and social media.

Mel Pinet, Wrap a Hug

In this workshop, you will learn about woven wraps and their qualities, have a chance to try on and feel wraps with different thicknesses, types of weave and wraps woven with different types of fibres, and you will learn how to carry your baby on the front in a Front Wrap Cross Carry.

Mel Pinet is a babywearing consultant who runs Wrap a Hug sling library based in Tower Hamlets and Hackney. She is mum to 2 boys and has been using slings for 4.5 years. She started using slings when her first boy was born, then started organising a sling meet and went on to train as a sling consultant. She’s truly passionate about supporting new parents on their parenthood and babywearing journey and has a keen interest in woven wraps.
